Small books

I love this bookmaking structure because you can play with both sequential and non-sequential multi-panel compositions. Starting with one page, you can work abstractly and two-dimensionally and then turn this into a 3-d (book) design.

original artwork

Fold horizontally and vertically into 16 units, and cut on back of the artwork.

The orientation of the cut rows affects the opening and sequence of images and pages.

Consider a title page and a colophon.

A sequence can be worked out in advance by numbering the pages and considering the orientation of the images. The easiest way to do this is to create the flat structure first, fold into book form and number the pages, then lay the sheet out flat again and design the sequence.

Another variation
Add color to the design. This is color pencil over a printed black and white image.
